A total of 21 paticipants from the second batch grantees of China Gender Facility came to Beijing to participate in the Capacity Building Workshop held on 24th-26th April. The workshop aimed at building greater capacity for gender mainstreaming, results based management and rights based approach to ensure successful implementation of projects.
Publications on Gender and Governance translated in April 2006
Linked to the overarching UN theme of Women's Role in Decision-Making for 2006, a set of translated training manuals on Gender and Governance was published. This publication was initiated by the Ford Foundation, technicallysupported by UNIFEM China and was financially made possible by the UNDP Regional Governance Programme, Asia Pacific Gender Mainstreaming Programme and UNIFEM East & South-East Asia Regional Office.
This publication aims to benefit many agencies and individuals, such as governmental and non-governmental organizations, gender and governance specialists, and those interested in gender and governance issues. It would also contribute to the promotion of gender responsive governance and gender equality in China .

International Day for the Elimination of the Violence against Women
The white ribbon is the symbol for the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women (EVAW) which falls on the 25th of November of each year. The day marks the start of a 16-day global campaign against violence against women which runs through World AIDS Day on 1 December to Human Rights Day on 10 December.
